2014KidsParents and Kids are invited to attend the Summit for Kids family expo at the John S. Knight Center on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. By bringing your child, you'll be giving him or her an entertaining and educational experience and helping to promote healthy development.

Plans for the day include fun activities, free back-to-school items and other giveaways, special guests and much more, all made possible by generous local organizations. Admission is free, and the list of attractions is still growing.

Local Organizations can have a positive impact on the children who attend Summit for Kids in several ways.

Summit for Kids Russ Pry Youth Award

Summit for Kids will celebrate partnerships and collaboration at the Summit for Kids Breakfast on Friday, August 17, 2018 in conjunction with the 9th Annual Summit for Kids Expo. You can participate by nominating an individual youth under the age of 21, who has made a significant contribution to children/youth in the areas of social services, education or humanitarian services.

The mission of Summit for Kids is simple in design and monumental in reality, therefore, the nominee must show success in enhancing the quality of life for children.

We encourage you to nominate an individual youth for the 2018 Summit for Kids Youth Award. For more on the award, click here.


This year’s Summit for Kids Symposium will take place at the Akron-Summit County Public Library Main Branch in downtown Akron on Friday, August 17th, from 9:00a.m- 4:00p.m.

The symposium, entitled “A Focus on Youth Suicide: What Communities Can Do,” will focus on education and community resources, innovative approaches and responses, and solution-focused family supports.

This session has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 4.75 total CLE hours instruction. Summit County Children Services is an Approved Continuing Education Provider through the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Social Worker Approved Provider #RSX-038707 and Counselor Approved Provider #RCX-019008. This session approved for 5 hours for Social Workers and Counselors.

Registration for the symposium is $50.00 per person. The price includes Summit for Kids Breakfast from 7:30am-8:45am, located at the John S. Knight Center and parking.
